Reasons and solutions for frost formation on air conditioner low-pressure pipes

Reason 1. Insufficient refrigerant: After the split air conditioner is used for a long period of time, refrigerant leakage or leakage will occur. When the refrigerant in the refrigeration system is reduced, the evaporation pressure is too low, causing the evaporator to freeze. The location of the ice is usually in front of the evaporator. The troubleshooting method is to deal with the leaking part first, add enough refrigerant, and the fault will be eliminated.

Reason 2. Compressor failure: Similarly, after the air conditioner is used for a long period of time, the compression efficiency of the compressor decreases, or the compressor gas distribution system is damaged, causing the pressure to be too low and freezing. The icing position is also in front of the evaporator. Add some refrigerant to the former and the fault can be eliminated. If the fault persists, the compressor must be replaced.

Reason 3: Too much refrigerant: Insufficient refrigerant will cause the air conditioner to freeze, and too much refrigerant in the air conditioner will also cause the air conditioner to freeze. Some air conditioners require re-injection of refrigerant due to displacement, leakage, etc., and maintenance personnel must operate Improperly adding too much refrigerant will cause excessive refrigerant to flow to the evaporator and partially evaporate and freeze. This kind of ice often forms in the rear part of the evaporator and around the return pipe of the compressor. If the excess refrigerant is released, the fault will be eliminated.

Reason 4: The evaporator is too dirty: After the air conditioner is used for a period of time, dust in the air or microorganisms produced by the evaporator will accumulate on the evaporator, hindering air circulation, resulting in reduced heat exchange, and the evaporator temperature is too low and causes ice. The frozen position is at the rear part of the evaporator. After the ice melts, rinse the evaporator with water and brush along the fins with a soft brush. Be careful not to get the electrical part wet. After cleaning, the fault will be eliminated.

If the air conditioner freezes due to the failure of the thermostat, then the air conditioner thermostat needs to be replaced; if it is found that the evaporator of the air conditioner is too dirty, then the air conditioner evaporator needs to be thoroughly cleaned. If it is refrigerant If it is insufficient or excessive, then the refrigerant needs to be removed or added; if it is a compressor failure, it is best to replace the air conditioner compressor.
